Wine!

It shouldn't come as any surprise to anyone that I would find where the wine was sold and get a bottle of red for my hotel room.  Just like any HEB the little market has a wine section (and by the way the markets sell liquor as well - it's one stop shopping) so I decided the other day to dive right into the wine offerings.  Of course they are all in a foreign language but you can quickly tell what is imported (read really expensive) and what is local (read right in my budget).  Luckily for me Merlot and Cabernet are still in English so I picked one up for about $6 USD and went on my way.

When I returned yesterday from work about 6 p.m. I had an hour before our team meeting at 7 p.m. so I decided to try the red wine.  The hotel had provided us with a corkscrew so I did my best to get the cork out.  Hmmm....no luck the cork wouldn't come out despite my best efforts.  I didn't have time to mess with it long before the meeting so I left it and went off.  When I came back about 9 p.m. I tried again, still not budging; so I dug through my luggage and found my swiss army knife, popped open the corkscrew and voila! out came the cork.  I never go anywhere with out that tool, it is the best.  The wine was delicious (I bet you thought I was going to say yummy) and thoroughly enjoyable after having to wrestle the cork out of the bottle.  Of course no blog is complete without pictures.

It was a late night, I had notes to type up from the day's meeting and some research on our topic and since I was up late, I skyped with the kids who both told me I should be in bed.  Hopefully there wont be too many late nights like that.  Today, we have a briefing at the US Embassy, not sure exactly what we will be hearing / discussing, but I'm feeling very Jason Bourne this morning.  It will be my first US Embassy visit, ooh la la, can't wait to blog about that.
